| Here's some stuff we would need for a very basic demo:
1. Character model
2. Zombie (?) model
2. A couple vehicle models
3. A couple building models (?)
4. Textures for concrete, metal, the road, water, etc.
5. Gun model
6. A couple tree models
7. Some furniture models
8. Skybox
9. GUI work
10. A music track
11. A few sound effects (zombie scream, player shout, footsteps, rain, gun, wind, glass breaking, explosion)
This is what we need if we are to use 100% our own resources. Which we should.

| I don't have any 3D modeling software... Does anyone have a program that can do this? Woah. I just came across a paper with a bunch of free/cheap photo, 3d animation and modeling software download/install links from a field trip a while ago to a movie-making company (they have one full-length feature film so they no what they're doing) a while ago. Should I post the links on here? | |

| I think the Maya version is not allowed for commercial stuff... And here's a bit of advice: Don't use Sketchup. It really stinks, as it is much more CAD than an actual 3D modeling software. Blender is probably the best choice here. It's what Hawk uses. | |

| This game could look like Zed, found here: http://www.pawngame.com/beta/zed/These guys are really slow devs, and we could get our game out before theirs. I like pink ponies with fluffy ribbons, I used to do Pawngame, and they never cared about the game after they'd finished it. | |

| That looks like the zombie game..not primal..
But ye if they're slow then we should be able to beat them to it.Plus its a flash game ours isn't.Also read the comments on youtube it took them 3 YEARS to make that.. i think its safe to say it'll never be made. And that was posted a year ago.. 4 years to make a flash game? .-.

| ...How did this conversation turn into us talking about making what these people have made before they do?
Primal is supposed to be a survival horror FPS sort of thing, not a top-down 2D slack and hash game.
We could do something like this at some point, though, if you guys wanted to.

| I live in Australia, and to be really honest I hate it. Lots of work opportunity though. I'd rather live back home (England) | |

| I use sketchup for professional modeling just fine. The issue is texturing in sketchup... since it only has diffuse and opacity options, it's bad. However, if you export it out and texture it outside of sketchup, you can get a really good pipeline down.
Sketchup is by far the most simple 3D program there is... you just click to make lines. It finds midpoints for you and whatnot. As long as you work in cube forms, everything is easy.
I just find blender too confusing to even bother trying to figure out, especially since I don't have hours to watch endless video tutorials or the memory to remember what they say. It's good if you have time and a good understanding of 3D already. If you are more artistic and less technical, Sketchup honestly works great, even though blender and other programs are much better with pretty much everything except user friendliness.

| Yeah, Sketchup is easy to learn, and pretty effective with square shapes too. The problem with it though is the curves. When they come in, everything starts going wrong...
And that's the problem, since we need character models and such...

| Ever heard of Sculptris? I think they still have a free version out there... it's a simple clay-like modeling program put out by the makers of zBrush... it's very straightforward and excellent at organic modelling. | |
